Born in Christchurch in 1993, Yuuki Bouterey-Ishido began to study cello at the age of six under Galyna Zelinska. In 2006, he joined the Pettman Junior Academy at Canterbury University, NZ and was with the Academy until 2008 when he moved to London to study at the Purcell School of Music.  At the Purcell School, he studied firstly under Natalia Pavlutskaya and then under Pal Banda, graduating in 2012.

Yuuki moved to Switzerland to study at the International Menuhin Music Academy under Niall Brown and Pablo de Naveran and is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK under cellist Hannah Roberts.
